TIPS & TECHNIQUES:

4-steps to organizing ideas when you talk - S.W.A.Y.*

S: Make a statement, take a stand, make a point.

W: Tell why you feel the way you do.

A: Use anecdotes and personal stories to illustrate the reasons you've used. Brief accounts of interesting incidents that have happened to you (or that you know about personally) give life and believability to your message.

Y: Your conclusion. Summarize—repeat your opening statement.

An entire presentation can be developed using the SWAY method:

  • Introduction
  • Point #1 using the 4 SWAY steps
  • Point #2 using the 4 SWAY steps
  • Point #3 using the 4 SWAY steps
  • Conclusion
